Program for 2008

In 2008, the Life Commitment Program will take place June 7 to June 19 (depart the morning of June 20th) at St. John's Retreat Center, Plymouth MI, near Detroit.

Arrival should be planned for June 7 (Program begins at 5:00 p.m. Travel information will be sent to registrants.) Departure: June 20, in the morning.

The program days are full - participants may find it helpful not to make social commitments until they have a sense of the schedule. If you live nearby, absenting yourself for ministry may be a temptation, but no one is indispensable - give yourself the gift of time - and let ministerial life go on without you.  And plan to stay to the end for the very special gatherings and final liturgy!

Program Overview (2008)

This two-week experience is designed for women and men settled in their decision to make final vows in religious life. The participants will

  • reflect on their lived experience of religious life
  • in a prayerful atmosphere
  • with other temporary professed
  • in the context of presentations on pertinent issues challenging religious men and women of the third millennium.

The day begins with morning prayer and combines a rhythm of reflection and presentations, along with integration groups to share insights and elements of your journey. Sharing meals, enjoying the lovely grounds, time for journaling and private prayer fill out the day.

Communal prayer will be celebrated in a variety of ways - Eucharistic liturgy, morning prayer, reconciliation service, faith sharing and alternate prayer forms. Participants will be invited to share their creativity in planning prayer.
