In April 2000, John Staudenmaier SJ spoke in Colorado Springs CO
as part of the "Living Vows: Renewing the Face of Our
Earth" series of National RFC Workshops. The day-long
presentation was condensed to three 90-minute audio tapes and the
set is available from the National Office.
John’s presentation dealt with living poor, chaste and obedient
in relationship to our planet, to all that is living and the impact
that a group of people who are committed and public about living
that way could have on our society. John first offered “Five Myths
of National Identity in the 20th Century U.S. then offer a “Decompression
of these myths. He then explored the current situation as “Crisis
of Symbolic Meaning” and offer insights as to “How Vowed
Religious Communities Might Minister in This Situation.”
