MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
for 2008
The Religious Formation Conference, originating in the 1950’s
as the Sister Formation Conference, is a national organization
rooted in the Gospel and called by God’s prophetic Spirit. The
Conference is committed to the transformative process of this same
Spirit and, responsive to the signs of the times, supports and
serves the ministry of formation in religious congregations of women
and men . The Conference does this in a spirit of hope,
collaboration and mutuality.
RFC benefits religious institutes by:
- creating programs and experiences that support those in the
ministry of incorporation/formation, and for leaders with
formation/incorporation responsibilities
- the publication of InFormation, the RFC newsletter, five
times a year
- an annual Orientation Program for Directors; resource
material
- ForMission, a two-year, long-distance program for directors
- consultation services
- a summer workshop at Bergamo Center, Dayton OH
- a biennial National Congress, including the Jubilee
Symposium in 2003
- website with public information accessible to all persons in
a member religious institute and password accessible, more
detailed information for those receiving mailings.
- part of future planning involves the publication of a
Formation Manual, with guidelines for canonical and civil law
elements, financial issues, psychological criteria and other
dimensions of interest to ministers of formation/incorporation
and leaders.

Membership
for Religious
Institutes
Membership in RFC is by religious institute - or government unit
(e.g. province, region, monastery, etc.) When an institute or unit
becomes a member, everyone who belongs to the unit enjoys the
privileges of membership. Membership entitles the unit to:
- Two mailings of the newsletter, bulletin and related
material five times a calendar year, one directed to the minister
of formation/incorporation and one to a leadership person
.
- Annual Membership Directory, with regional and national
RFC contacts, as well as contact information for allied
organizations in the US and abroad. This is an online publication on the private side of the RFC website.
- Discounts for program fees, audio-visual resources,
publications, workshops for all members of the institute or
unit.
- Each institute will receive one copy of the Resource
Manual in the years that it is published.
