Religious Communal Living as an Intercultural Journey

MAY 6, 2017
Mercy Center, St. Louis, MO
Presenter: Pio Estepa, SVD

The missionary movements of the 19th and 20th centuries bore fruit by making the Catholic faith spread worldwide. A consequent grace for religious congregations that fostered mission ad gentes has been their internationalization. Along with it, however, comes the challenge to journey from multicultural membership to intercultural synergy. What intra- and inter-personal skills do we need to mature through the journey? Communities are also affected by rapid changes of globalization; sociocultural conditions that raised baby boomers significantly differ from those that formed succeeding generations. How can we revitalize communal living intergenerationally as well as interculturally?
