Barbara L. Leson passed away peacefully in her home in Fairfield at the age of 93 on Monday, December 1st.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Michael J. Leson and her son Alan B. Leson, her parents Charles and Annie Gopsill and her sisters Irene Iwaniki, Dorothy Weber and Sr. Frances Gopsill, SHCJ. Barbara is survived by her sons Lawrence J. Leson and James M. Leson and his wife Linda, as well as her grandchildren, Charlie and Lena.
Barbara was a lifelong resident of Fairfield and after high school worked as an executive secretary at Famous Artists School in Westport. She attended Holy Family Church where she worked in the Holy Family School office. Later, she was a member of Assumption Church in Fairfield where she worked in the office of the rectory. She later worked in Fairfield Town Hall as a switchboard operator and was known for her diplomacy and humor.
Barbara was an excellent home cook and gardener and was famous for her chicken cutlets which were always served for dinner on Christmas Eve. She was truly loved by her family and will be tremendously missed.
A Celebration of Barbara’s Life was held at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 21 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, (stjude.org).
