Today, Sept. 8, we celebrate Botswana Foundation Day and 26 years of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth’s presence in the country.
The SCN mission began in 2000, when Sisters Ann Muthukattil, Nalini Meachariyill, Angela Hicks, Pat Huitt and Sarita Manavalan arrived in Botswana. Since then, Sisters and Associates have served through education, health care, pastoral ministry and outreach to children, families and people affected by HIV/AIDS.
Today, that mission continues in classrooms, parishes, homes and health care settings. On this anniversary, we give thanks for all who have served, the people of Botswana who welcomed the Sisters and the partners whose generosity sustains this work.
