A Christmas outreach program was held at Chatra Jail through the combined efforts of Chatra Parish, parish youth, the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, the Charles Borromeo Sisters, and Chetna Bharati. Nearly 400 inmates took part in the celebration inside the jail premises.
The program opened with a brief prayer service and the blessing of the Christmas crib. Fr. Nabor, parish priest, shared a short Christmas message focused on hope, reconciliation, and the presence of love and care even in places of confinement.
Young girls presented a Christmas dance that brought smiles to many in attendance. Christmas cake was distributed to all inmates as part of the celebration.
At the conclusion of the program, the jail superintendent offered a guided tour of the facility. The visit was made possible through the support of Mr. Barea, jail superintendent, and the coordination of Sr. Mukta Chunki. Participants left the jail with a deep awareness of the dignity and humanity present within it.
