“Be diligent in serving the poor. Love the poor, honor them, my children, as you would honor Christ Himself.”

Community, Culture and Celebration
On Tuesday, Feb. 17, Sisters of Charity, Associates, and employees celebrated Mardi Gras with festivities in both the Motherhouse and Mother Margaret Hall. The celebrations began in Mother Margaret Hall with traditional king cake and a lively performance by the Merri Moores, setting a joyful tone for the day. Later that afternoon, the Motherhouse Dining Room transformed into a New Orleans-style celebration. Following a meal of authentic Louisiana Creole cuisine, parade participants delighted Sisters and guests with a spirited procession. Krewe members tossed beads, twirled parasols, and danced to the rhythm of festive tunes, bringing the energy and warmth of Mardi Gras indoors. The evening culminated in a cherished tradition as everyone waved white napkins to “They All Ask for You in the Zoo.” Coordinated by Louisiana native S. Shirley Le Blanc, this joyful gathering has become one of the most beloved traditions on campus.
