2026 Easter Egg Hunt

The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth hosted the 2026 Easter Egg Hunt on a clear, sunny day at Nazareth. Families from across the Bardstown, Kentucky area gathered on the grounds, and children moved quickly from one activity to the next with much excitement.

The morning opened with the arrival of the Easter Bunny, who came down Main Avenue in Trudi’s Trolley as music played. Children lined the route and followed along to the gathering area near the Church.

Nazareth welcomed guests and connected the day to the meaning of Easter, pointing to new life, hope, and the light of the Resurrection. Sister Jackulin Jesu, President of the Congregation, then led the opening prayer and reflected on the meaning of the season.

“Everywhere we look, new life is waking up and reminding us of your joyful love,” Sister Jackulin said, pointing to the signs of spring across the Nazareth campus. She offered a blessing for the children and families gathered, asking that the day be filled with “happiness, kindness, and safe, joyful fun for all.” She also gave thanks for the Sisters, staff, and volunteers who made the event possible, adding, “May your love and the happy joy of Easter be with us all today and every day.”

The egg hunts followed a schedule by age group. Children ages 0 to 3 began near the Church, followed by ages 4 to 6 near the Motherhouse, and ages 7 to 10 near the Guest House. Each group had space to move safely, and volunteers helped guide families between locations.

In addition to the hunts, children made crafts with the Sisters, visited the Easter Bunny, enjoyed kettle corn, and spent time petting live bunnies. The craft area created space for interaction between the Sisters and families, while the bunnies offered an engaging experience for kids.

Recycling stations were set up, and families were encouraged to return plastic eggs after each hunt. Participation was strong, supporting the Congregation’s care for creation.

The Egg Hunt remained active throughout the morning, with families rotating through activities and spending time together. By early afternoon, it was all over, families began to leave, and cleanup followed.

The day brought together Sisters, families, and friends in a setting that reflects the mission of the Congregation. It was a great day at Nazareth, highlighted by the spirit of Easter.

Thank you to all who joined us for this year’s Easter Egg Hunt. The presence of families and children brought life and joy to the day. We are grateful to the Sisters, staff, volunteers, and partners whose time and effort made the event possible. Each role, seen and unseen, helped create a welcoming and meaningful experience for all. As we continue in the Easter season, may the joy of new life and the love of God remain with each of you.
