“Be diligent in serving the poor. Love the poor, honor them, my children, as you would honor Christ Himself.”
St. Louise de Marillac
On the First Day of Christmas …
On Wednesday, Dec. 10, Sisters and employees from across the Motherhouse and Mother Margaret Hall came together to celebrate another year of dedicated service with a festive donut and coffee social in the dining room. The highlight of the morning? A spirited performance of “The 12 Days of Christmas,” complete with elaborate accessories.
Aside from a brief pause during COVID, this beloved celebration has been a holiday tradition since 2000, when S. Cookie Crowley first organized the event. Anticipating the fun for the following year, participants began preparing for their annual rendition of “The 12 Days of Christmas,” and by 2003, S. Cookie recalls, Sisters and staff were “on a roll,” with holiday spirit growing stronger each year.
“Every year, it’s more outrageous,” S. Cookie says, proud of the tradition that the entire campus looks forward to. “It’s a simple thing, but it’s a lot of fun for everyone.”
