The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth joyfully welcomed Callen Nyaboki as the first candidate from Kenya to begin a journey of discernment with the congregation. This milestone in the history of the SCN mission in Kenya was celebrated with a prayer service Sept. 1, 2026.
The Sisters in Kenya gathered in prayer to give thanks for the gift of Callen and entrust her discernment to God. Reema Tigga, SCN, who is completing formation training in Nairobi, joined the celebration via WhatsApp.
Callen is from Kisii County, Kenya, and has been connected with the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth for the past three years while pursuing her college education. During that time, she has grown in her relationship with the Sisters and continued to listen prayerfully for God’s call in her life.
During the prayer service, Callen was welcomed into this new stage of her journey. She received a blessing and a candle symbolizing the light of Christ, reminding her to allow Christ to guide and illuminate her path as she continues discerning her vocation.
Sister Reema will accompany Callen during her initial formation period, walking with her as she grows in faith, deepens her relationship with God and continues discerning a call to religious life.
The Sisters in Kenya rejoice with gratitude for this new beginning and significant moment in the life of their mission. Trusting in God’s providence, they pray that this small beginning will become a seed of abundant growth for the SCN mission in Kenya.
Please pray for Callen, Sister Reema and all the Sisters serving in Kenya. May the Holy Spirit continue to guide and strengthen their ministry, and may more young women open their hearts to hear and generously answer Christ’s call.
