Here are prayers, reflections and activities from national and international organizations to accompany us on our Lenten Journey:

NUNS AGAINST GUNS VIOLENCE COALITION invite us to the 3rd Lenten Fast to End Gun Violence, a prayer to God and an opportunity to publicly appeal to our civic communities for action to reduce gun violence. This year, our fast will deepen our awareness of the effects of gun violence on individuals, families, and communities. Despite public support, gun violence prevention legislation stagnates in Congress, and many state and local representatives enact extreme laws that ignore the public call for gun violence prevention legislation. Visit the website for ways to participate in these three ways: PRAYER, EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY

CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICESWe are familiar with the CRS Rice Bowls which are available in our churches throughout Lent. Because of severe funding cuts to their aid programs throughout the world, the need for financial support has added urgency. The Diocese of Providence offers ways to support Catholic Relief Services this Lent. You can also pray for the forty days of Lent with this CRS Calendar.  Online-Lenten-Calendar-2026

LAUDATO SI’ MOVEMENT “Returning to the Heart” is the theme of the LS Movement’s Lenten Journey Inspired by these words from the prophet Joel: “Return to me with all your heart” and Pope Leo: “It is only by returning to the heart that a true ecological conversion can take place” The heart is where contemplation, discernment, and action for our common home become one. Weekly reflections will guide your prayer and ecological conversion throughout Lent. Rooted in Scripture and contemplation, each reflection offers simple prompts to listen to the cries of the Earth and the poor and respond with faith and action. Visit the Laudato Si website to sign up for these reflections.

MARYKNOLL OFFICE FOR GLOBAL CONCERNSinvites us to make this Lent ‘A Journey Toward Peace’. By centering our journey on a “peace that is unarmed and disarming,” we are challenged to set down the defenses we carry—our pride, our judgments, and our fears. There are weekly reflections on the readings by Maryknoll missioners from Ash Wednesday through Palm Sunday. In addition, there are prayers, fasts, and actions based on each week’s Gospel reading and the experience of Maryknoll missioners who have lived and worked with marginalized communities around the world.
