Aware that young adult discerners like to pray with music, Franciscan Sisters of Christian Chariy reached out in this month of Mary to an inspired friend-team who created a song that deputed on October 9, 2025 honoring Our Lady of Champion, the first approved apparition site in the United States. The Champion Hymn is composed by Michael Miller, Diocese of Green Bay Director of Music and the lyrics are penned by Doug Taylor Weis, from Grand Rapids, Michigan. Together, Mary’s message is pure gift. The song is beautiful way for pilgrims of all ages to learn and remember the key events of the apparition and to ask her intercession. There are eight verses. We share four here. Walk to Mary participants will find this a special reminder of their time on the road.
Lyrics: Mirror of the Resurrected, you reflect the Savior’ face,
Shelter us the unprotected, Grand protectress of this place.
you whose womb he well accepted,
Lady, Champion, full of grace. Salve, Regina caeli!
You, dear, Mother, saw your daughter, laden with her sheaf of grain
mid the fir and maple sought her, made the sinners’ doomsday plain
Offering up the Blood that bought her, she could their conversion gain. Salve Regina Caeli
“Teach the children of this nation, of this wilderness below:
Have them sign their own salvation and prepare for grace to flow.”
Thus Adele as her oblation, Christ’s immortal seeds did sow. Salve, Regina caeli!
Mirror of the Resurrected, show us to his glorious face.
He from heav’n has now effected signal wonders in this place.
You unveil the Church perfected, Mary, Champion of the race. Salve, Regina caeli!
