This Jubilee invited the Church to return to its ancient call for renewal. From its roots in Leviticus, a Jubilee marks a time for release, restoration and new beginnings. The Holy Year that began on Christmas Eve 2024 and ends on the Epiphany in 2026 has centered on the theme Pilgrims of Hope. During this time Catholics across the world have been encouraged to take part in prayer, pilgrimage, reconciliation and acts of mercy. These practices remind us that the Jubilee is a moment to seek healing, turn toward God with trust and open our lives to grace.

Reflection for the Closing of the Catholic Jubilee Year
By Sister Teresa Kotturan

As we gather to close this Jubilee Year, we pause to remember the call to walk as Pilgrims of Hope. Our world carries many wounds. War, conflict, sickness, the ongoing effects of the pandemic and the strain on creation weigh heavily on many. The Jubilee Proclamation reminds us that hope endures because the Spirit keeps its light alive within us. Patience strengthens this hope and guides our journey toward each meeting with Christ.

Today we bring these truths to prayer. We ask how hope has shaped our steps during this Jubilee and how it may guide us in the days ahead. We turn to the Spirit who stirs courage in us and sends us to stand with those who suffer. With this in our hearts, we enter our prayer with trust that hope can steady us and help us rise again.

We now turn to a litany and prayer that lift our shared longing for peace, justice and renewed life.
