Second Sunday in Ordinary Time – Sister Ginny Scally, SNDdeN January 18, 2026 John 1: 29-34 Recently, we celebrated Christmas, 2025. As we have launched into “Ordinary Time,” today’s Gospel reminds us once again, through the words of John the Baptist, of what we have professed to believe as Christians: -that Jesus HAS come among us…-that Jesus IS the “Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world,” …  that “the Spirit WAS upon him” and … that “he IS the Son of God!”  John the Baptist tells us that again! And yes, indeed, our God is good! We profess our belief in this mystery each Sunday.  It is so easy though, for the words of our Creed to roll off our tongues automatically, when we come together to worship. What we profess is true, and yes, we can say with the psalmist , “All the earth shall bow down before you, O God, and shall sing to you, shall sing to your name, O Most High,” BUT do we believe the witness of John the Baptist? …that Jesus IS the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of our world?
