Sister Margaret “Maggie” A. (Daniel Anne) McGinn, BVM, 91, died Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Mount Carmel Bluffs, Dubuque, Iowa.

Visitation and Rite of Committal for natural burial were held Friday, April 17. Burial was in the Mount Carmel cemetery. Sharing of Memories and a Memorial Mass were held on Thursday, April 30.

Sister Maggie was born Feb. 21, 1935, in Davenport, Iowa, to Daniel and Margaret (Gaffney) McGinn. She entered the BVM congregation on Sept. 8, 1953, from Sacred Heart Parish, Davenport, Iowa. She professed first vows on March 19, 1956, and final vows on July 16, 1961.

Sister Maggie ministered in Chicago as an English instructor at Truman College, Cathedral High School and St. Patrick High School, as an elementary teacher at St. Tarcissus, St. Jerome, and Angel Guardian Care Center; and as a librarian at St. Ignatius. She also taught at Regina High School in Wilmette, Ill.; Sacred Heart Elementary School in Rock Island, Ill.; and St. Augustine Elementary School in Memphis, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Mary Gertrude (Ken) Weise, Genevieve (George) Glowacki, Patrick (Benita) McGinn, and Thomas (Mary) McGinn. She is survived by nieces, nephews, and the Sisters of Charity, BVM, with whom she shared life for 72 years.
