On May 1, Sister Marie “Tess” Browne, a longtime supporter of the National Farmworker Movement and founding member of the NFWM Board of Directors, joined a virtual vigil hosted by the Sisters of St. Joseph Federation, which includes 16 congregations across the United States.

During the gathering, Sister Tess reminded faith leaders of the people whose labor makes our daily meals possible, saying, “If you ate today, you must thank a farm worker.”

She also encouraged those gathered to stay engaged in the farm worker justice movement by following current campaigns and taking action in support of workers, including dairy workers organizing through Milk with Dignity and Windmill Mushroom Workers calling for support through the Windmill Farms boycott.
