Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and Associates in the Boston area gathered July 18 at Catherine Spalding House to celebrate the feasts of St. Vincent de Paul and St. Mary Magdalene, as well as the summer season.
It was wonderful to be together and share our lives, prayer and a meal.
The gathering included a special treat familiar to many people from the Boston area: Jordan Marsh blueberry muffins. Although the Jordan Marsh department store closed many years ago, Jordan’s Furniture in Avon offers muffins made from the original recipe during Christmastime. This year, the store celebrated “Christmas in July” by offering the popular treat.
Guests received muffins to enjoy the next day and share with their families.
Over a summer lunch, everyone caught up on one another’s lives. Lively and caring conversation filled the space with laughter and support.
The group also connected by phone with Martha Walsh, Ann Susan Villa, Barbara Gilmetti and Jo Ann Paulin. They were delighted to be included in the gathering.
Together, the Sisters and Associates continue to be a vibrant and supportive community, responding to the needs of families, communities and the world. They give thanks for their relationships and for the charism of charity they share.
