Sister Ann Whittaker and Sister Anne Marie O’Shea led a retreat for the Catholic Daughters of America at Sacred Hearts Parish in Haverhill, Massachusetts.

Titled “Come! Rediscover the Faithful Women and Sacred Symbols of Easter,” the retreat centered on reflection, prayer, and shared experience.

The day began with a ritual honoring earth, water, oil, and fire, recognizing their connection to life during the Easter season. Participants reflected on the story of Mary Magdalene, often called the Apostle to the Apostles. The session drew on current biblical scholarship and invited women to consider her story as one of healing, presence, and witness.

A healing ritual followed, including a self-blessing with oil. The retreat also included reflection on the Emmaus story, focusing on recognizing the presence of Jesus in daily life and in shared moments such as the breaking of bread. Participants were invited to consider how they encounter and share this presence with others.

The day concluded with a closing ritual centered on light, recognizing the dignity and value of each woman. Participants expressed appreciation for the experience and the opportunity for reflection and community.

Sister Ann and Sister Anne Marie expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the retreat and accompany the women throughout the day.
