SCN Sisters in residence at Caritas Place Apartments in Pittsburgh celebrated Earth Day by getting their hands in dirt!
Sisters enjoyed creating patio pots to enjoy on their patios during the summer! The plant colors were red, white, and blue, blooming in honor of the upcoming 250-year anniversary of the founding of the USA.
In addition, the Sisters planted leaf lettuce, spinach, cucumbers & beet seeds to complement the already planted garlic, onion, and red potato plants. Tomatoes & peppers are waiting to be planted when overnight temperatures are consistently above 50 degrees, usually between Mother’s Day and Memorial Day!
The community garden – overseen by Sister Pat Bartolo & Sister Marie Diane Novechek – will supplement the Sisters’ diet later on this growing season.
