Flaget Memorial Hospital (now CommonSpirit Saint Joseph Hospital – Bardstown) recently marked 75 years of service to Nelson County during its Spring Benefit on April 23 at Log Still Distillery, with several Sisters in attendance. Founded in 1951 by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in response to the growing need for local healthcare following World War II, the hospital has remained a cornerstone of care for the community.

As part of the anniversary celebration, SCNs Theresa Knabel, Therese Arru, Jackulin Jesu, and Earline Hobbs reflected on the hospital’s mission of compassion and service. In interviews featured during the event, the Sisters spoke about the importance of caring for the whole person and building meaningful relationships with patients and families across generations.

The Sisters also emphasized the hospital’s identity as a ministry rooted in the healing mission of Christ, encouraging continued support to ensure this legacy of care continues for years to come.

The evening embraced a “chic western” theme, with guests arriving in western-inspired attire, including hats, boots, and classic country style.
