The Tri-State Coalition of Women Religious announce that Daniel P. Horan, Ph.D., will offer a public presentation titled “Finding Hope in Challenging Times” on Thursday, February 12, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Church of the Resurrection, 4300 Asbury Road in Dubuque, Iowa.
Dan is a Professor of Philosophy, Religious Studies, and Theology at St. Mary’s College (Notre Dame, Ind.) and an Affiliated Professor of Spirituality at the Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio. He is a columnist for the National Catholic Reporter and the author or editor of more than 16 books.
In a time marked by political polarization, violence, economic inequality, and ecological crisis, many people struggle to find authentic hope. Dr. Horan will explore how Christian spirituality and the wisdom of key spiritual figures throughout history can help individuals cultivate hope and embrace a prophetic faith in the face of fear.
“We live in challenging times, and in moments like these, hope can feel fragile, even out of reach,” Dan says. “Yet the Christian tradition calls us not to despair, but to cultivate hope rooted in faith.”

Drawing on the depth of the Christian tradition, the presentation will offer insight, encouragement, and meaningful pathways forward during uncertain times.

Tri-State Coalition of Women Religious is a network of women religious and community members in the Iowa/Illinois/Wisconsin area and includes Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa, Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Dubuque Sisters of St. Francis, Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and Sisters of the Visitation.
