As the new year heralds in opportunities for continued growth, we invite religious congregations of women and men to become members of the Religious Formation Conference.


Last year RFC staff, board, and members engaged in a strategic/emergent planning process. Thanks to the work of many, RFC has surfaced a revised strategic plan for 2017-2020.


ForMission is a 2-year skill-building and study program for women and men vowed religious preparing to serve and/or are serving in their congregation’s ministry of initial/ongoing formation.

Registration is now open for new applicants for the initial residential session, “Mission and Religious Life in the 21st Century” at Catholic Theological Union, Chicago, IL, May 31 – June 8, 2018.

Sister Mary Daniel Turner

For over fifty years, Sister Mary Daniel, SNDdeN, was engaged in the beginnings and on-going development of the Religious Formation Conference. One of the original designers of the Conference’s ForMission Program, she also contributed to the revision of its Life Commitment Program and served on its Advisory Council for Programming. In 2009, Sister Mary Daniel received the Conference’s Mary Emil Penet Award for her outstanding contribution to the initial and lifelong formation of religious women and men.

The Board of Directors of the Religious Formation Conference is pleased to announce that Mary Pat Garvin, RSM,  Ph. D., will be the 2017 recipient of its Mary Emil Penet, IHM, Award.  The award, presented at the Conference’s biennial National Congress, honors persons who have made an outstanding contribution to the formation, initial and/or lifelong of vowed religious.

Ryan J. Hoffman

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Ryan J. Hoffmann as the next Associate Director of the Religious Formation Conference.

Ryan brings to the Conference a wide range of skills and experience as a Catholic nonprofit professional in communications and marketing, conference and event planning, and administrative leadership.
